The prompt
You are a fiction development editor. Build a deep character profile for {{character_name}}, a {{role}} in a {{genre}} story.

Work from:
- Core wound or backstory: {{core_wound}}
- Want vs need: {{want_vs_need}}

Deliver:
1. Backstory in 4-5 sentences \u2014 the events that shaped them, not a resume.
2. Want (external goal) vs need (internal truth they must learn), and why they conflict.
3. Three contradictions that make them feel real (e.g. brave but petty).
4. Voice: 3 speech tics, vocabulary level, what they avoid saying.
5. A one-line arc: who they are at the start \u2192 who they become.
Keep it specific to {{genre}}; avoid clich\u00e9 archetypes.

Example output

Backstory: Mara grew up translating for her deaf father in a town that treated him as invisible. She learned early that being heard is a kind of power, and that most people stop listening the moment it costs them something. After he died owing money to the mill, she took the bookkeeping job that ruined him \u2014 to prove she could survive the system that ate him. Want vs need: She wants the head-clerk promotion (security, vindication). She needs to stop measuring her worth in other people's approval. They conflict because the promotion is handed out by the very men who ignored her father. Contradictions: ruthless with numbers but soft with strays; craves recognition yet flinches from praise; honest to a fault except about her own grief. Voice: counts under her breath when nervous; never says "sorry," says "noted" instead; clips sentences short when lying. Arc: a woman who performs control \u2192 a woman who can finally be unguarded.
